Crowns & Bridges
A crown is a type of restoration which surrounds the entire tooth. It is most commonly recommended to protect teeth which have been weakened from large fillings or root canal treatment. Crowns can also be used to change the appearance of front teeth by changing the shape, size and colour of these teeth as well as making them stronger.
A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth where there is a gap. Teeth on either side of the gap have crowns placed over them and are joined by a ceramic tooth to fill the space. A bridge usually involves a gap and 2 adjacent teeth.
Ceramic crowns can have beautiful aesthetics and have a very natural looking appearance. They can be made to match your adjacent teeth colour or in the case where a lighter colour if desired they will be made with a lighter shade.
Onlays/inlays are ceramic restorations which can be placed instead of white fillings/restorations. They are often a lot stronger than composite resin restorations and can last a lot longer which means fewer replacements over the life of the tooth.
